The death toll within the state touched 10,371, with 57 extra deaths being reported, the State media bulletin confirmed.
Tamil Nadu’s capital has been the worst affected district within the state and had 1164 cases being reported on Thursday. The metropolis has seen 184,429 individuals being contaminated thus far.
Neighbouring Chengalpattu has the second-highest tally of cases with 39,870 individuals having been contaminated until date, adopted by Coimbatore with 37,919 cases in all.
As many as 5117 individuals recovered from the an infection on Tuesday, and the overall recoveries now stand at 612,320.
The state reported 83,803 checks on Tuesday and has 191 testing amenities, of which 66 are government-run.
